About Five Area
Serving you since 1950
Five Area Telephone Cooperative, Inc. was chartered May 1, 1950. This is providing telephone service to the rural areas in portions of Bailey, Parmer, Lamb, Castro, Cochran, and Hockley counties of West Texas. Since the early years, the story of Five Area has been one of steady growth and development. The changes in the industry have been tremendous and have taken their toll on all telephone cooperatives, but Five Area has met the challenge of the times. By staying on top of the new technology and our world of electronics, we are proud to be able to serve the needs of our members and customers in Bula, Lariat, Lazbuddie, Lehman, Maple, and Needmore, Texas.
West Plains Communications is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Five Area Telephone Cooperative, Inc. and began operations on October 1, 1995. West Plains Communications, Inc. serves the Communities of Earth, Muleshoe, Olton, Springlake, and Sudan using the latest in fiber optic and digital technology in telephone central office equipment.
